Varkensfontein is situated in the malaria-free Waterberg biosphere. The lodge has a classic African stone and thatch style with stunning views over the two rivers and Waterberg Mountains. It offers an abundance of birds and wildlife and tranquillity to hide away from city stress.
Accommodation comprises 6 en-suite chalets, two en-suite bedrooms in the main house, and a bunker room for the young, sleeping a maximum of 23 people comfortably.
The lounge and bar area with its open braai set the scene for sharing stories of the day’s excitement, and memories of the past. It also offers an open-air boma with a firepit where the tradition is set to shuffle your feet in the sand while large stumps of firewood crackle under African skies.
Please equip yourself with all soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. In addition, two cleaning staff are at your service during your stay.
A fully equipped open-plan kitchen and dining room with a fireplace cater for all weather conditions. DSTV is available on request whilst only MTN reception is a privilege. Cell C reception is available on certain spots of the farm.
Remember to bring: Cameras, binoculars, bird and wildlife reference books, a hat and sunblock. Cool clothing for summer and warm for winter are advised as the region is subject to sudden weather changes, particularly in the mountains.
Seasonal info: Summer (October – March) temperatures range from minimums of 20˚ C to maximums of 38°C with hot days and cooler nights. Winter temperatures from May to September/late October with temperatures from 10˚C to 24˚C.
