For the more adrenaline-seeking or serious fishermen, we offer the Fish Eagle camp which is situated on the foot of the mountain on the banks of the Goud River. Set up your tented camp or caravan on the riverbank and enjoy the sound of the fish eagle as it ricochets against the surrounding mountains.
Built in a traditional style, this secluded camp offers a thatched area with a Lapa a few meters away from the waters. The old-fashioned hot water donkey surprises many people as this tradition has almost been lost in today’s society. Come experience the fun of firing up the old donkey to provide warm water for the shower and kitchen wash bay facilities. This camp is lady-friendly and provides a flush toilet and shower. Note this is semi-rustic and not for persons seeking modern-day luxury.
Please take note that no supplies are available on the camp and that it is completely self-catering.
Remember to bring: Cameras, binoculars, bird and wildlife reference books, a hat and sunblock. Cool clothing for summer and warm for winter are advised as the region is subject to sudden weather changes, particularly in the mountains.
Seasonal info: Summer (October – March) temperatures range from minimums of 20˚ C to maximums of 38°C with hot days and cooler nights. Winter temperatures from May to September/late October with temperatures from 10˚C to 24˚C.
